Starting the Conversation in Your Class Group
Wondering how to bring up Smartphone-Free Childhood in your class WhatsApp group without friction? A gentle, non-judgmental message can open the door to real connection.
Tips:
- Speak from your own experience
- Be inclusive-invite, don’t judge
- Keep it light-no long articles, no heavy facts
- Offer a next step-suggest a casual coffee or small group
- Even one ally matters-one or two parents can make a huge difference
Example Message (copy-paste friendly):
Hi everyone - I wanted to share something that’s been on my mind lately. I’ve been thinking a lot about smartphones and how best to navigate them as [X] gets older.
I recently came across a parent-led movement called Smartphone-Free Childhood that’s growing in Slovenia-supporting each other to delay smartphones for our kids and take the pressure off doing it alone.
It feels like something lots of us aren't sure how to navigate but maybe haven’t talked about yet. Would anyone be up for meeting for a coffee or starting a small WhatsApp group to chat more?
No pressure either way-just thought I’d see if others are wondering about this too!
